Mingo Mother Pleads Not Guilty

Crystal Clark pleaded not guilty Tuesday to kidnapping and murder charges. According to authorities, she is accused of fatally shooting her husband, David Clark on April 26 in their home. She then allegedly took her 13 month-old daughter and drove to Tennessee. An Amber Alert was issued for the child. No bond was set during Tuesday’s arraignment. Her attorney said he wanted more time to look over her case and would ask for bond at Crystal Clark’s preliminary hearing. That hearing has not yet been scheduled because of an impending mental evaluation. A hearing for the custody of Crystal Clark’s two children was closed to the public. A woman accused of killing her husband and going on the run with her child will appear in court Tuesday. Crystal Clark, 33, of Varney in Mingo County, is scheduled to be arraigned at 1 p.m. According to authorities, she is accused of fatally shooting her husband, David Clark on April 26 in their home. She then allegedly took her 13 month-old daughter and drove to Tennessee. An Amber Alert was issued for the child. Clark was found and extradited to West Virginia last week. The child is now living with family members. Family members also said Clark had been involved in a custody battle with her husband at the time of his murder.

Smith said he will be driving to Tennessee to take custody of her and bring her back to West Virginia Thursday or Friday, but he did not yet know the details. Smith said Child Protective Services had already flown to Tennessee to take custody of Clark’s 13-month-old daughter, Chloe.

Authorities continue to look for a 33-year-old woman and her infant daughter, following a fatal shooting Tuesday afternoon. Deputies say they want to talk to Crystal Clark about the killing. Her husband, David Clark was found dead, with multiple gunshot wounds. Tuesday night authorities put out an Amber Alert for Clark's 13-month-old child, Chloe. According to www.missingkids.com, Crystal Seigler Clark has threatened to harm the child. They also say Clark may be driving a silver or gray 2000 Plymouth Voyager, registered with North Carolina tags ABM2212. The Mingo County Sheriff's Department is looking for a 33-year-old woman and her infant daughter following a fatal shooting this afternoon. Deputies say they want to talk to Crystal Gale Clark about the killing. They're calling her a "person of interest." She's described as 5-feet, 7-inches tall with green eyes and brown hair. She was last seen driving a silver or gray minivan. Deputies were called to the home near Varney at about 1:30 p.m. and found a man dead with two gunshot wounds. His name hasn't been released yet.
