Shane Irwin joined WOWK in November of 2007, and works as a "news gatherer" for the evening editions of 13 News. He's responsible for shooting, writing, editing, and the overall production of his reports.
Before assuming his current position, Shane worked as a photojournalist for the station. Before working at WOWK, he started his on-air television career at Marshall University, as well as the local Huntington, West Virginia NBC affiliate, where he spent nearly two years as a photojournalist.
Born in Los Angeles, Shane also lived in Burlington, Vermont before moving to Huntington when he was six. A graduate of Cabell Midland High School in Ona, WV, Shane went on to study Broadcast Journalism at Marshall University, and graduated in December of 2006. While in school, Shane spent time working for the news department of the University's student-run radio station, WMUL. As an upperclassmen, Shane worked extensively for MU Report, and eventually anchored the school's first ever live television broadcast, which was a special that focused on the "We Are...Marshall," movie.
Shane is a member of Bates Memorial Presbyterian church, and enjoys anything and everything that gets him outside. Basketball, football, tennis, surfing, running, and playing golf and just a few of his many other hobbies.
He loves hearing from the community, and if you have a good story to tell, don't hesitate to contact him at sirwin@wowktv.com.
