Martina Bills Martina joined 13 News in September 2004. Prior to moving to Huntington, she worked at WOWK’s sister station in Beckley.

From the Northern Panhandle, to the Southern Coalfields, Martina has worked in three of the four television markets in the state.

Martina’s broadcast career started well before she graduated from college. During her senior year, Martina interned at KDKA in Pittsburgh, as well as WTOV in Steubenville, Ohio - Wheeling, WV. She made her on-air debut at the NBC affiliate as a reporter several months before graduation.

In September 2003, Martina moved to Southern West Virginia to report for WVNS, CBS–59, a start-up station and West Virginia Media’s fourth station in the mountain state. WVNS took to the airwaves in October 2003, changing local television in the Beckley - Bluefield market.

During her year at WVNS, Martina covered several memorable events, including a visit from President George W. Bush. It was the first time a sitting President visited Beckley. During the visit, Martina had the rare opportunity to travel in the Presidential Motorcade with the White House Press Corps. Martina also covered the visits of both John Kerry and John Edwards, landing a one-on-one interview with the Vice Presidential Candidate. She also interviewed Rev. Jesse Jackson while he was in Beckley. Another interview Martina will never forget, ‘Big Tom’ Buchanan from the CBS series, Survivor.

Martina grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, graduating from Point Park College with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. As one of 56 grandchildren, there’s a good chance a family gathering will take her back to the Steel City, especially around the holidays.

Martina is thrilled to call Wild and Wonderful West Virginia home, although she admits, she still cheers for the Black and Gold!
