Update: 8 Arrested in Major Huntington Bust

UPDATE: 1/3/18 @ 9:00 p.m.

Eight people were arrested on various charges Wednesday following a search warrant at a residence at 900 Washington Ave in Huntington.

According to Huntington Police, the Special Investigations Bureau obtained the warrant after receiving numerous complaints from citizens.

The SWAT Team was used to make entry at around 3:30 p.m. because of barricaded doors and windows.

The apartment was also equipped with a complex video surveillance system.

Those who were arrested inside the residence include:

  1. Jerome Tavares Boyd, 38, of Georgia. Boyd was charged with obstructing an officer, maintaining a dwelling for drug sales, transferring and receiving stolen property, and being a person prohibited from possessing a firearm.
  2. Tavarius Darnell Jones, 38, of Georgia. Jones was charged with maintaining a dwelling for drug sales, possession of stolen property, and being a person prohibited from possessing a firearm.
  3. Michelle Mills, 35, of Huntington. Mills was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
  4. Steven Wayne Stewart II, 37, of Charleston. Stewart was arrested on an outstanding battery warrant in Kanawha County.
  5. Brittany D. Beckelheimer, 27, of Huntington. Beckelheimer was arrested on a city warrant for intoxicating substances.
  6. Sherri L. Belcher, 32, of Huntington. Belcher was arrested on a city warrant for trespassing.
  7. Jeffrey D. Gaddy, 40, of Hurricane. Gaddy was arrested on a city warrant for open container.
  8. Herbert L. Tilghman, 43, of Huntington. Tilghman was arrested on an outstanding capias warrant.

Detectives recovered a stolen firearm, stolen property, scales and drug paraphernalia inside the residence.

Detectives also recovered evidence that indicated a propane heater was used inside the home to destroy money and drug evidence as the SWAT Team attempted to gain entry.

Several destroyed cell phones were recovered from the kitchen, and the apartment was littered with used needles.

Animal control was notified to take possession of two dogs that were in the home. The property owner was notified and responded to the scene to take possession of the property.

HUNTINGTON, WV (WOWK) - 15 people have been detained by police officers and SWAT in a major Huntington drug bust.

The drug bust took place around 4 p.m. at an apartment on the 900 block of Washington Avenue in Huntington.

The apartment is three stories with a basement, and only occupants from the basement and first floor were detained.

Our crew at the scene says that numerous cameras were used at the apartment, as well as bars on windows and 4x4 planks on the doors. 

No names of those detained have been released yet.

Officers with the Huntington Police Department and SWAT responded to the scene.
