K-9 Takes Down Suspect After Pursuit

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WOWK) - KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WOWK)- A woman was arrested early Sunday morning after a chase through  Kanawha County.

According to Sgt. Sean Snuffer with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department, just before 6:00 a.m. Sunday, a call came in of a stolen vehicle in the Elkview area.

A Deputy passed a vehicle that matched the description of a stolen vehicle.

The deputy turned around and that’s when the suspect, Samantha Schafer, took off on Rutledge Road.

Schafer fled and crashed on Martin Hollow Road.

She got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

A Sheriff Deputy then released K9 Officer D’Jando.

D’Jando was able to bring down Schafer.

Schafer is charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.

She was treated and then taken to the South Central Regional Jail where she is being held on a $5,000 cash only bond.
