UPDATE: Police Release Names of Charleston Employees Involved in Fatal Wreck

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) - UPDATE 04.16.18

Charleston Police have released the names of those involved in a fatal wreck Saturday. A city of Charleston garbage truck was involved in a single-vehicle crash near the 101 mile marker on I-77 south.

Three male employees were in the truck during the wreck and all were transported to a local hospital.

Jesse Goff, 22, was killed in the accident.

Beejay Taylor, 44 is still in the hospital being treated for his injuries while Christopher Harrison, 24, has been treated and released.

The crash is under investigation by the Charleston Police Department Crash Investigation Unit.  

 

UPDATE 04.14.18

According to CPD at 11:45 a.m. a city of Charleston Garbage truck carrying three occupants was involved in a crash. All three were transported to CAMC General, one person has died, the other two are seriously injured. The CPD Crash Investigation Unit is still investigating the accident. The names of the victims will not be released at this time.

All lanes of traffic have now been reopened.

I-64 eastbound in the I-77, I-64 split is closed, after a Charleston garbage truck crashed on I-77 around 12 p.m., with three occupants who were in the truck. All I-77 southbound traffic is being diverted to I-64 westbound, I-64 eastbound will be closed for approximately 5 hours.
