Huntington corrections officer accused of sexually assaulting inmate

HUNTINGTON, WV (WOWK) - A corrections officer for the Huntington Work Release Center has been charged after a female inmate says he sexually assaulted her. 

According to a criminal complaint, James A. Widen, 36, of Milton, has been charged with imposition of sexual acts on person incarcerated.

The complaint details that between January 1st, 2016 and March 14th, 2016, the woman inmate was incarcerated at the Huntington Work Release Center. 

The inmate alleges that while doing laundry under the supervision of Widen, he commented that, "he could have her shipped back," and "that he was good to her."

Widen also added that, "it was time for him to get paid for it."

The sexual assault took place in the laundry room, according to the inmate. She then provided clothing over to investigators who matched DNA samples to Widen.

A warrant has been issued for Widen's arrest.
