Boyd County Schools Closed for Flu Cleanings

All Boyd County Schools closed for cleanings from Flu like illnesses

ASHLAND, KY (WOWK) - For all the years Chris Barrett has been a custodian supervisor he has never seen a flu season shut down an entire school system.

"rarely have we missed for flu or anything like that, that i can remember," Barrett continues  "usually we are kind of on top of things it's just this flu season is really ramped up."

So custodial crews wiped down, double washed and sanitized more than 100 rooms in Boyd County High School.

"the health and safety of our children and staff is very important to all my staff and (i) keeping all the students as healthy as we can coming into our facility," Barrett.

With nothing but the best cleaning supply possible.

"as far as our disinfectant go we make sure it's got all the kill claims as far as killing staf, MRSA, TB, things like so we maintain a hospital grade disinfectant in our facilities," Barrett added. 

Boyd County superintendent says schools should reopen on Monday February 12, 2018.
