Nitro -- Jesse Davis of Cross Lanes and Jim Morris of Scott Depot were job casualties of the Dial America Call Center closing in Charleston a few weeks ago. They've come to the job fair at Tri-State Racetrack and Gaming Center in hopes of finding a stable career. "I'm a people person. I like talking to people and being around people. That's the type of position i'm looking for," says Jesse. "Working with various types of people, different backgrounds, meeting new people as well," says Jim. There are 90 positions available here at the racetrack, positions made possible due to the table games expansion. "A lot more people are becoming curious, especially since poker has started, so they are interested in this environment. It's different than what they are used to working in, so they are very curious about what we have to offer," says Sara Mullins, Human Resources Director for Tri-State Racetrack and Gaming Center. Cashiers, Computer technicians and servers are just a few of the available jobs. Many are full-time positions with benefits. In fact, Mullins says some are hired on the spot. "Some of them are difficult to fill, some of the entry level positions, but for the most part for example our management positions were easy to fill," says Mullins. Management positions are the types of jobs Jesse and Jim were interested in as they now keep their fingers crossed hoping to soon become part of the Tri-State team. Saturday's job fair was the 8th since the table games vote. It continues Sunday and Monday. Mullins says there will be more job fairs as table games gets into full swing.
