Last surviving First World War vet still lives in West Virginia.

West Virginia Senator Robert Byrd submitted a proposal Monday to allow the last surviving United States veteran of the First World War to lie in honor in the nation's capitol rotunda upon his death. Frank Buckles, a Charlestown, West Virginia resident and served in that war and was also held as a Prisoner Of War during World War II. The resolution must be passed by the House and Senate, but doesn't require the signature of the president.
