Friday's festivities are free to the public
HUNTINGTON -- The public is encouraged to attend the inauguration celebration for Huntington Mayor-Elect Kim Wolfe this Friday, January 2nd, 2009 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Huntington’s City Hall. The ceremony will include a procession, music and entertainment, and will be followed by a reception with refreshments and an opportunity to meet with the new Mayor an d city leaders. All festivities are free and open to the public.
Plans include a procession to City Hall with the Mayor’s family and city leaders arriving via a TTA trolley, escorted by Huntington’s Horsemounted Police Unit and representatives of the Huntington Police and Fire Departments. Entertainment includes members of the Huntington High Marching Band, and First Stage Theatre Company’s cast of High School Musical who will reprise their rendition of “We’re All In This Together”, a recurring theme in Wolfe’s campaign of “T.E.A.M. Huntington: Together Everyone Achieves More!”
There will also be performances by Morgantown vocalist Bobby Nicholas, who was last heard in Huntington at Cabell Huntington Hospital’s Witches’ Ball, and a very special appearance by Collis P. Huntington himself, portrayed by Clint McElroy. Wolfe’s son, John, who is on holiday hiatus from Brigham Young University’s international performing company, The Young Ambassadors, will also perform.
Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient Hershel “Woody” Williams will lead The Pledge of Allegiance, and the presentation of colors will be by the Huntington High School ROTC honor guard. Prayers will be offered by Pastor Samuel Moore and Monsignor Luciani. The new Mayor will be sworn in by Judge L.D. Egnor.
