BELLE --  UPDATED SATURDAY AT 2:45 PM

26 year-old Denver Ford Casto of Belle has been charged with accident involving death.

Investigators say he struck Michael Hancock while he was walking on Simmons Creek Road. Hancock died at the scene.

According to witness statements, the victim and several friends were involved in an argument and Casto left in his vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed -- and struck Hancock

The statements go on to say Casto told the witness not to say he was the one who struck the victim.

Bond for Casto was set at $500,000.

ORIGINAL STORY

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and killed early Saturday morning.

According to Kanawha County dispatchers, the accident occurred on Simmons Creek Road in Belle.

Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies said the victim has been identified as 35 year old Michael Hancock.

Authorities tell WOWKTV.com that they now believe the incident was intentional after witnesses say Hancock was arguing with someone prior to the vehicle hitting him.

One person was questioned by police, but no arrests have been made, according to deputies.

The Kanawha County Sheriff's Department is investigating.
