HARDY, Ky. -- Strong floodwaters in Pike Co., Ky. destroyed homes and businesses over the weekend.
"It was all through here, you can see how high it got up here," said Tammy Martin, of Hardy.
Martin said she can't believe her family is now dealing with the aftermath of a major flood.
"People make you feel stupid, 'Why didn't we move our cars?' Well, it never floods here."
But early Saturday morning, it did flood. And days later, she's still talking about what happened.
The water washed away cars, storage buildings, and even a major concrete bridge.
The bridge is off off Route 319, known as Perry Stanley Road. It's the only access to a main road for about 10 homes.
Those who live there, had to wait until the waters receded to get out. And now they're improvising to get across the stream.
"Where it's washed out, we've been having to come down this dirt road here, cross this guy's driveway here, he was nice enough to move his cars and go through this road over here and go up to the main road," said Shane Evans of Hardy.
Emergency crews are still working to reopen up many of the washed-out roads in the county.
Schools in Pike County are closed for the rest of the week, and two elementary schools could close for the rest of the year because of flood damage.
The Red Cross is set up at Belfry High School to offer shelter and food for people who need it.
