ASHLAND -- This year the Boyd County High School marching band is all about precision and personality.
This year, assistant band director, Guy Molinary is one of the newest members.
He's helping the band sharpen their skills for the half-time show.
Band director John Johnson said they've already been practicing for weeks to entertain the crowds.
"The kids are working right now on our halftime and competition show Pyramids of Egypt. It's got that sound and feel to it like lawrence of arabia. They put a lot of work in," said Johnson.
Johnson said this will be the largest band since he's been here with more than 60 members marching onto the field.
"Just like a football coach is lining up plays, he's going to pick a play that's going to work for the team, so we always try to pick a play that's going to work for the team," said Johnson.
This year's band will take the field during the Lions first home game on Saturday, August 22.
In other school news, the Boyd County School District is looking forward to a new High School in the next few years.
Plans are underway to design a new school, which will be built on State Route 180 across from the current high school.
School officials hope to have a print this fall for the new building.
They hope the school will be ready for use in 2011.
