HURRICANE -- Three members of Hurricane City Council have called some budget items into question. The issue surrounds the work being done at Hurricane City Park. City manager Ben Newhouse said the labor was being done by city workers, but admits the city went over-budget on materials for the project.
Newhouse said he expects council members to get together next Monday to discuss the budget expenditures and to figure out how to pay of the rest of the city's bills.
"We can't predict everything. We try to stay within the confines of our budget. Sometimes we go over. Sometimes we go under, and when we go under we compensate for the over expenditure," said Newhouse.
The budget issues have some city employees wondering if they're going to get paid, but Newhouse said city employees will get paid their regular salaries on pay day.
