CHARLESTON -- Grocery stores were crowded Wednesday night as shoppers went to pick up last minute items.
Some were getting just a few extra ingredients while others were purchasing everything for the menu.
There were still plenty of turkeys, hams and pumpkin pie available.
Some shoppers said they planned on saving money by cooking dinner from scratch.
"It is cheaper and better, said Carolyn Wesley of Charleston. "People care more about the love you put in the food than how much it costs."
The Foodland on Spring Street will be open until 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.
Several other stores are staying open to accommodate procrastinators as well.
