$6 million slated for programs in West Virginia.
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Ripley Armed Forces Reserve Center. The money comes from a Transportation and Housing and Urban Development appropriations bill signed into law Wednesday.
The Jackson County Commission will use the $1.4 million to expand the drill hall and supporting facilities. The additional space will be used as multi-purpose space that can be used by residents in the community.
West Virginia is slated receive more than $6 million. The money will be used on projects in Pocahontas, Hampshire and Jackson Counties. The Appalachian Service Project will also receive funds under the bill. The project provides free home repair to low-income families in Southern W.Va..
Sen. Robert C. Byrd said, "these initiatives will promote health and wellness and help to improve the quality of life for many West Virginians."
Byrd is the senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
