Scammers are posing as grandchildren and asking for money.
CHARLESTON -- There's a new scam spreading across West Virginia targeting grandparents.
The State Attorney General's office announced Thursday that in the scam con artists pose as grandchildren and ask their "grandparents" to wire money to them.
Hazel Lilly of Hurricane was the victim of such a scam. She says the person posed as her grandson even sounded like him and asked her to wire money to Canada to bail him out of jail.
We'll have more on the scam and how you can protect yourself coming up this evening on 13news at 6.
