Updated at 2:14 a.m. Saturday
As of 1:30 a.m. water has been restored to the majority of the Huntington Area. As a precautionary measure, the boil water advisory is STILL IN EFFECT until further notice.
BOIL WATER ADVISORY affects not only all areas in Huntington, but also areas in South Point and Chesapeake, Ohio.
Also, water customers should be advised of the following:
* Water pressure may contain air. Please turn faucets SLOWLY, to allow air pressure to leave the water lines. This may take a few minutes.
* Also, air pressure may be in several faucets in your household. Just because you clear the air pressure in one sink, doesn't mean another one doesn't contain air pressure as well. Turn on faucets CAUTIOUSLY for the first few times.
* Water may appear brown from faucets and outlets not used since the outage. Please let the faucets run for a minute. Be cautious when washing clothes as well, as water could stain clothing unless the washer is run through a wash cycle first.
* Water for the next few days may appear milky, even after the boil water advisory has been lifted. This will likely be air in the water. If you fill a glass with water, you should notice the water will become clear within minutes as the air rises to the surface. This issue is only for AFTER the BOIL WATER ADVISORY has been lifted. As of this post, ALL WEST VIRGINIA AMERICAN WATER customers in the Huntington area are expected to boil water until further notice.
* According to Cabell 911, water will still be distributed beginning Saturday at 8 a.m. at Fire station one. That is at the corner of 7th Avenue and 9th Street in Huntington. Also water will be delivered to elderly and those who can't leave their houses.

ORIGINAL STORY
A massive water main break has much of Huntington without water Friday Night.
The break happened around 6:30 p.m. on First Avenue and 24th Street in Huntington. The break is at a West Virginia American Water Station. West Virginia American Water is on the scene and is trying to fix the break, but no word when water restoration will occur.
As a result, many business are expected to shut down as the water main break and the water outage continues.
Areas affect more than 80 percent of the city. Areas affected include Downtown, Southside, West End, Fairfield, Beverly Hills, Guyandotte, Route 60 and Pea Ridge.
West Virginia American Water has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for customers within the city limits of Huntington who have experienced a loss of water service or low water pressure.
If other areas outside the city limits eventually lose water or water pressure due to this water main break, this advisory could be expanded. West Virginia American Water will closely monitor the situation and take the appropriate steps if an expanded boil water advisory becomes necessary.
When water service is restored, customers should boil their water before consumption until further notice. Customers are asked to bring water used for drinking, cooking, bathing and brushing teeth to a full boil for a minimum of one minute, then cool before use.
Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms that may be present in the water. West Virginia American Water also recommends the following steps: Throw away beverages and ice cubes if made with tap water; Keep boiled water in the refrigerator for drinking; Provide pets with boiled water after cooling; Do not use home filtering devices in place of boiling or using bottled water; most home water filters will not provide adequate protection from microorganisms; Use only boiled water to treat minor injuries.
