KENOVA -- Just two weeks before Thanksgiving, a Wayne County family is without a home.

The two-story house fire broke out just before noon Wednesday on 14th Avenue and Oak Street in Kenova. The house is across the street from Kenova Elementary School.

Police said no one was home at the time of the fire. The Kenova and Ceredo Fire Departments responded and were able to keep the fire from spreading to surround homes. One dog was saved, but three other family pets were trapped inside.

Route 60 is closed temporarily from Chesnut Street to Oak Street in Kenova.
