TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - A consultant's preliminary study concludes the overcrowded Lucas County Jail in downtown Toledo isn't worth saving. The study by DLR Group says the county should instead build a new facility. Sheriff John Tharp isn't surprised by the recommendation, telling The Blade the jail is inhumane, typically running well over its capacity.

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Searchers on Lake Erie near the Davis-Besse nuclear plant have found the body of one missing boater and continue to search the lake for three other people still missing. The Coast Guard has focused the search on the area where the fishermen's partially submerged boat was found this morning.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Police are investigating a fatal shooting in the parking lot of a north Columbus YMCA. The victim was a 36-year-old man. Investigators tell WBNS-TV the Y was locked down after yesterday's shooting, with police searching for three or four people they believe were involved in the attack.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Central Ohio's homeless agency is expanding space for displaced families, with officials saying the number of parents and children with no place to live continues to rise. The Columbus Dispatch reports the agency has modified plans for a new adult shelter to include a second area specifically for homeless families.
