Gil McClanahan is an award-winning reporter who has returned home to the Kanawha Valley.
He grew up in Putnam County, graduating from Cross Lanes Christian School in 1983. After college, his broadcasting career took him throughout the Southeast and even West to Idaho. He returned to West Virginia in 2002.
His career has been filled with many memorable moments. From reporting on the devastation caused by flooding from Hurricane Floyd in Eastern North Carolina to feeling the sadness of a heartbroken mother who lost her commercial fisherman son at sea, his stories have stirred the emotions of viewers.
Other reports have shown his fun side like learning to drive a tractor-trailer, learning to be an auctioneer, and learning to be an Elvis impersonator. He has also interviewed Presidential candidates, politicians, athletes and entertainers. Gil and his wife Connie have one son, Trevor.
After working for another Charleston television station, Gil joined 13 News in November of 2006.
