W.Va. Should Give Back Some of Budget Surplus

Posted: Updated:

Once again, the state's general revenue collections exceed expectations.

We're only four months into the fiscal year and the state's budget surplus is at $70 million.

I hope our political leaders understand that this is our money and, quite frankly, we'd like some of it back.

There's nothing wrong with fiscal responsibility and keeping your books in the black, but every time we talk about tax reform, our elected leaders say we can't afford it.

I don't know what they've got planned under the dome, but if $70 million won't cover the bill, then maybe they should rethink the plan.

Let's put this money back where it belongs – in our pocket.
