CHARLESTON -
A group of an estimated two dozen protesters were on the Capitol lawn Sunday to protest Governor Earl Ray Tomblin's inauguration.
At different points throughout the event, the group yelled or booed Tomblin or other speakers. Many were holding signs protesting surface mining.
One of those was Fayetteville resident Mara Petretich.
"We came down to voice our opinion about mountaintop removal," said Petrtich. "We're not against coal and we're not against jobs. We just want more accountability from these politicians."
Police kept the group on a portion of the capitol lawn and off of the sidewalks. No confrontations were reported.
A member of capitol security said things "were being kept peaceful."
