Charleston Shooting Victim Dies, Suspect Charged With Murder

The victim in an early morning Charleston shooting has died, according to police.

Jerry Wayne Baldwin, 35, was shot at about 2 a.m. at his home on Mary Street, police said.

Donald T. Raines II was arrested in connection with the shooting, according to police. The charges against him now have been upgraded to murder.

Police have made an arrest and released the name of a man injured in an early morning shooting in Charleston.

According to a news release from the Charleston Police Department, Jerry Wayne Baldwin, 35, was shot at about 2 a.m. Tuesday at a home on the 400 block of Mary Street.

Police later arrested Donald T. Raines II in connection with the shooting.

Baldwin was taken to CAMC General, where he is in critical condition.

The incident is believed to be domestically related.

One person was shot in Charleston early Tuesday morning.

Metro 911 dispatchers said the shooting happened in the 400 block of Mary Street. Police are on scene and looking for the person who pulled the trigger.

The shooting was reported at about 2 a.m.

The person shot was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center. No information was released about that person's injuries or identity.
