If you're thinking about deep-frying your Thanksgiving turkey, you may first want to hear from someone who's turkey exploded.
Believe it or not, it happened to William Shatner, best known as the captain of the U-S-S Enterprise in the old Star Trek TV show.
Now he's teamed up with State Farm to send out a serious message -- in a fun way.
It's a short online docu-drama, showing Shatner as a turkey fryer burn survivor.
The accident happened several years ago.
Shatner received burns on his hands and arms. He's now on fire with his own unique message to fry safely.
The YouTube video also links to a demonstration of how quickly a turkey fryer fire can spread, with tips on how to avoid something like this from happening.
Tips that fire safety experts say is critical to turkey cooking.
"The moisture in that turkey might cause a flare-up, or it might cause the oil to come out of the container. Then you've got the very real possibility of severe burns," said Carol Nolte, West Virginia Deputy State Fire Marshal.
Shatner proves he's no turkey, stepping up to the hot plate and showing he's really a tough old bird.
According to State Farm claims data, more fires occur on Thanksgiving than any other day of the year.
