MORGANTOWN, WV -

Gabriel Brothers announced Nov. 18 its first-ever Thanksgiving Day store hours, along with early Black Friday specials and a $100,000 50th anniversary gift card giveaway.

"They're starting their Black Friday shopping five days early," said Shannon Baker, spokeswoman for the family-owned, off-price retailer.

"Beginning Tuesday, there will be special bargains," Baker said. Thursday through Saturday,  the first 50 customers who spend $50 in each store will be eligible for $10 gift cards. "There will be refreshments served throughout the mornings to make the experience a little more elaborate and welcome those early shoppers."

All stores will be open from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day with 25 of the season's most-in demand toys and, on Black Friday, doors will open to shoppers at 5 a.m.

In addition, in celebration of its 50th anniversary, Gabriel Brothers is hosting a $100,000 gift card giveaway through Dec. 31.

"At random, 500 shoppers will be selected for gift cards valued at $200," Baker said. "There will be entry forms at kiosks in the stores. Once people are registered, we've been good at getting the cards to winners within a week."

Although the company has offered Black Friday specials in the past, this year's offerings are at a new level, Baker said.

"Gabriel Brothers is family-owned and operated, and they're part of the communities where they operate," she said. "They've heard from people who wanted longer hours, even more competitive deals, and this is taking that feedback and applying it to the holiday season. As long as the feedback is positive, I imagine it will be continued in future years."

Headquartered in Morgantown, Gabriel Brothers operates 36 stores in mid-Atlantic and northeastern states.
