Higher expectations, financial problems and alcohol play a major role, however; in nearly every case of domestic violence, the violence was already in the home.
Debby Weinstein, executive director YWCA said, yes there is plenty of stress for everyone during the holidays, but there is never an excuse to perpetrate violence against any family member during the holidays or any other time.
Weinstein also said, people who are being abused during the holidays most likely will stay in that situation because they want to keep their family and kids together during this time.
