Charleston - Huntington, West Virginia -- WOWK -- 13NewsKanawha County community helps Nitro police officer hit by car

Family, fellow officers and the community gathered Monday evening at Buffalo Wild Wings to support the Nitro police officer hit by a car on Thanksgiving.

Officer Jimmy Lee was directing traffic, when he was hit , at the 40^th Street and Cross Lanes Drive intersection. Lee suffered serious injuries, including a fractured skull and a blood clot.

Lee is now at Sheperd Center, in Atlanta, Ga., a rehab hospital that specializes in spinal cord and brain injuries. Lee is scheduled for surgery, on his legs, this week.
