Members of the Charleston Fire Department tried to give the Salvation Army a last-minute boost in donations Friday.

Firefighters manned Salvation Army kettles around the Charleston Town Center in an effort to increase interest in donating. Donations have been down this holiday season, according to Salvation Army officials.
