What started out as a shopping trip turned into a big headache Monday afternoon for a woman in rural Kanawha County.
Sherry Reed told 13 News she had started her truck for a trip to Rite-Aid to get holiday pictures developed and realized she had forgotten the memory card from her camera. She went back into the house and when she emerged, she found smoke pouring from the 2006 Chevy Silverado pickup.
She called 911, but the truck was quickly engulfed.
Many of her 3 year old's Christmas presents, as well as toys from a recent birthday, were in the car when it caught fire. The blaze also cut a power line to the house and filled the home with smoke.
She and her pre-schooler are staying with family and waiting for her insurance company to help out.
