A substance abuse recovery program celebrates its first year in Huntington today.
The Healing Place opened its doors last year in a former school building on Ninth Avenue and now has over twenty beds.
The facility offers a twelve-step recovery program for men addicted to drugs and alcohol.
The free program operates from money gathered by donations and grants.
Residents there contribute to the cause by doing their own cooking and cleaning around the house.
Many there say drug and alcohol addiction is a major problem in West Virginia.
So far eleven people have completed the program which takes nearly a year to complete.
Construction is under way to add more beds to the building.
Anyone who wants to make a donation or participate in the program should call the main office at 304-523-HOPE.
