David Anthony
Mason County Sheriff pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a 42-count indictment that was handed down earlier this month.
Anthony is accused of 21 misdemeanors and 21 felonies, according to court documents. The charges include wanton endangerment, child neglect creating risk of injury, domestic assault, shooting near a dwelling, fraudulent scheme, 19 counts of embezzlement and 18 counts of unauthorized use of a government purchasing card.
Anthony also was accused in November 2011 of firing a gun toward his 13-year-old son.
Mason County commissioners moved to remove Anthony from office on Jan. 4.
Anthony's pretrial hearing was scheduled for March 5.
