St. Albans Police seeking Travis Armstead after St. Albans wreck

Posted: Updated:

St. Albans police are looking for a man suspected of drunken driving after a wreck Thursday evening.

Travis Armstead, 21, was involved in a wreck with Bryan Brennan, 42 at about 6:05 p.m. at the intersection of Kanawha Terrace and Spring Street, according to a news release from the St. Albans Police Department.

Both drivers sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash and were taken to Charleston Area Medical Center.

During an investigation into the wreck, Patrolman J.M. Dent smelled alcohol on Armstead, the news release states. He also discovered an open can of beer in the car's cup holder.

Armstead later fled CAMC after becoming combative with the staff, according to the news release. He was not under arrest at that time, but Dent was in the process of obtaining a search warrant for Armstead's blood.

Dent found that Armstead was driving on a revoked license because of a previous drunken driving charge, the news release states. He also found no proof that Armstead's car is insured.

St. Albans police are working on getting an arrest warrant for Armstead, according to the news release.
