Helping children with their homework can be a challenge after they reach a certain grade level.
Many times a private tutor isn't in the budget.
That is why the Kanawha County Public Library provides a free online tutoring service.
The program offers help in a variety of subjects for students from elementary school to college.
All students need to get the help is a library card, a pin number and access to the internet.
"The student can chat back and forth with the tutor tell them about the problem," explained Elizabeth Fraser with the Kanawha County Public Library's reference division at the main library branch in Charleston.
Live tutors are available from 2 p.m. to midnight. The most requested subject students ask for help in is algebra.
To access the login site for tutoring assistance click on the research tools tab on the blue line at the top of the library's web site.
