Charleston Police investigating morning shooting

Charleston police officers responded to reports of a shooting early Friday morning.

A man who had been shot in the leg showed up at a house at 1520 Second Ave., according emergency dispatchers.

The shooting was reported at about 8:30 a.m.

Police reported that they believe the shooting happened in an ally near that house, dispatchers said.

As of 8:40 a.m., police on the scene were investigating the incident and had no suspects, dispatchers said.

West Side Elementary School was briefly locked down because of the incident, Kanawha County School officials said.
