Firefighters were busy Sunday night battling several brush fires around Kanawha County, made worse by high winds.

Brush fires were reported in Sissonville and Charleston late Sunday evening, and fire fighters on the scene reported that the high wind was helping them spread faster than they could be put out.

There is a high wind advisory in effect for much of the viewing area until 10 p.m. Winds could reach as high as 50 miles per hour.
