Gusty winds and dry conditions have teamed up to put southern West Virginia at risk for wildfires, according to the National Weather Service.

Open burning today is considered to be dangerous and the public is advised to use caution, the NWS announced.

Residents are advised to be careful of heat and sparks while operating equipment and smoking in wild land areas.
