River City Blues Competition planned for Marietta, OH

The Blues, Jazz & Folk Music Society of Marietta, Ohio announced its 20th annual River City Blues Competition on Tuesday.

It's the oldest and largest blues talent competition in the state of Ohio, according to organizers. 

Past participants have come from New York, Ohio, West Virginia, Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. They compete for sponsorship to the International Blues Challenge (IBC). 

The first place winner of The River City Blues Competition in 2012 will receive $1,200 dollars in cash and BJFM sponsorship to the IBC in Memphis early in 2013. The second place winner will receive $600 in cash and third place winner will receive $300 in cash. 

"This year's competition has 15 very competitive acts. If you attend you will agree," said John Bolen.
