Hurricane High School hosts candlelight vigil for Jacob Ball

It was an emotional Thursday evening at Hurricane High School as students, school officials and community members gathered outside the school to remember Jacob Ball.

The held a candlelight vigil in honor of the sophomore who was hit and killed on Tuesday afternoon by a train as he was walking the tracks home from school.

Counselors spent all Wednesday and Thursday at the Putnam County school, helping students and faculty deal with their grief.

Many classmates described the 16-year-old Hurricane High School student as a person who loved music, spending time with friends and played the guitar.
