A George Washington High School senior is taking on a daunting project.

It's the one-woman play, "The Belle of Amherst," about poet Emily Dickinson.

The play is 76 pages of monologue... And it took 18-year-old actress Mandy Harper a year and a half to memorize, two pages a day.

During the play, Harper portrays Dickinson during different stages of her life, talks with imaginary characters and even the audience.

The Contemporary Youth Arts Company will present "The Belle of Amherst" Feb. 3, 4, 9, 10, and 11 at 8pm at the WVSU Capital Center Theater.
