Police arrested two people in Cabell County Monday.

Corey Smarr and Mekell Welcome now face a number of charges related to fraudulently obtaining and possessing prescription pills, according to the criminal complaint.

Police said for the last two days, the pair traveled to numerous pharmacies in the area and obtained pills from prescriptions that were not authorized by a doctor.

They were finally caught, when a pharmacist in Barboursville contacted police.

Smarr admitted to police that the pair traveled to locations in West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky to obtain pills, according to the criminal complaint.

Welcome is charged with two counts of prescription fraud, transporting a controlled substance, and possession with intent to deliver.

Smarr is charged with two counts of possession with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana, and conspiracy.
