The Healing Place offers help and support for addicts in Huntington

As police agencies and communities look at ways to combat a growing, illegal prescription drug trade, one place is offering help to those battling addiction.

The Healing Place in Huntington offers men a chance to rehabilitate, while learning from others who have fought addiction.

Those who go through the program said it involves everyone helping one another, from cleaning and cooking to mentoring.

"To be honest with you, there's something in these rooms. People trying to help those who are addicts themselves. Feeding you and doing laundry. Trying to help you do the next right thing. It definitely opens your eyes. There's someone there holding your hand while you go through the process," said Warren Cottle, a peer mentor at The Healing Place.

The need is growing and the center is creating room for 20 more beds.
