Council members then voted to adopt the county's dog ordinance instead.

Mayor George Woodrum said after several complaints it became necessary to have an ordinance that could be enforced by a municipal judge and police.

"I think this will be the answer, this will give those who don't have dog someone to go to who has the power and the law enforcement to back up whatever their problem might be," said Woodrum.

Woodrum said he hopes to have everything finalized by the end of March.
