On Monday we learned that Conference USA and the Mountain West Conference are going to form a new association for the 2013-14 athletic year.
The new conference will be made up of 18-24 schools from the two conferences. And it will truly be a coast-to-coast conference, covering five time zones.
The two conferences met Monday to finalize the deal, which will be formally announced today.
Under the deal, Mountain West clubs UNLV, New Mexico, Wyoming, Colorado State and Air Force.
Also joining the fray will be Hawaii for football only.
Conference USA mates Southern Miss, Tulsa and Rice join Marshall, as do UTEP, UAB, Tulane, ECU and Nevada.
