As a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., said the committee gets regular briefings on the tensions between Israel and Iran.
The question of whether Israel plans to attack Iran is one that cannot be answered according to Rockefeller. He Israel may want the world to think they have attack plans and Iran wants the world to think they are ready to respond.
"Anytime you hear about something that is about to happen, probably better take a closer look. Some people just like to engage in the rhetoric of one is about to attack the other," said Rockefeller.
"We hoping the sanctions we put in place and I'd rather fight them economically before I have to fight them physically," said Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va.
Manchin said Congress owes it to the American people to stay out of another war if possible.
