The Fort Steuben Bridge now is a part of history.
Explosive charges brought down the span at just after 7 a.m. Tuesday.
The bridge was constructed over the Ohio River in the 1920s to connect Steubenville, Ohio, and Weirton, W.Va.
Work crews have been removing pieces of the bridge for the past few weeks.
The Ohio River now will be closed to traffic for the next 24 hours while work crews remove the pieces of the bridge.
