Charleston's George Washington High School begins moratorium on transfer students

George Washington High School isn't taking any transfer students from middle schools out of the area next year.

The Kanawha County School District changed the transfer policy last month, citing space concerns.

The school on Tennis Club Road has about 11-hundred students and about 50 teachers.

That puts the campus right at the limit set by the district -- 1 teacher to 22 students.

The moratorium is only for new students.

Current students attending outside their area won't see a change.
