If you have filled your vehicle up recently, it's hurting a little more now than in recent weeks. Prices are on the increase and experts believe that trend will carry over into the summer
"I think they are ridiculous," said Jerry Jacobs of Hurricane as he fills up his SUV. High fuel prices are hurting him especially hard.
"It's pretty rough, especially when you are on a fixed income," said Jacobs.
The price of gas has increased 13 cents in Charleston over the last month. Nationwide the price has gone up 18 cents over the last month.
"It's $3.56, $3.49 depending on where you stop in North Carolina. It was $3.41 in Wytheville, VA so we filled up there," said Molly Brown of Seymour, IN.
"I'm doing less traveling. Today is the first trip I've taken in about a year," said Dave Vitrano of Parkersburg.
Jan Vineyard, president of the Oil, Marketers and Grocers Association said there are several reasons for the rise in fuel prices. One of those is increased tensions with Iran
"For every dollar crude oil goes up, you see a 2 or a 2 1/2 cent increase at the pump," said Vineyard.
To cope with the rising gas prices, many drivers are adopting one simple rule - no unnecessary driving
Tractor-trailer drivers and companies are also paying the increased fuel prices. For example, it could mean increased prices on fruits and vegetables at the grocery store.
