Former Kanawha County Commissioner Doug Stump dies at 77

Former Kanawha County Commissioner Doug Stump has passed away.

According to a release from the county, the 77-year-old Stump died last night.

He was president of the commission several times during the 80s.

Stump also served as commissioner of the state Division of Motor Vehicles and a board member of the Elk Valley Public Service District.

Commission President Kent Carper called him a friend and mentor.

State flags will be lowered on all county property and at all county agencies in Kanawha County in honor of Stump.
